Selena ran from the clearing in the direction of the scream,leaving the two girls alone in the clearing. She looked and looked but found no one there she headed back toward the clearing, when she got there she was met by a terrible surprise. Shadow Warriors had surrounded her two little cousins she felt helpless and weak, she didn't know what to do or if there was anything she could do. She knew exactly what to do she prayed a prayer for bravery and strength and hurried toward the Shadow Warriors, they slowly turned toward her and she suddenly felt something on her side. She looked down, It was a sword! Not just any sword though, she seemed to recognize it.
On the side was an engraving "The Sword of the LORD"! "Thank you Jesus!" she cried! She ran to meet the Shadow Warriors with her sword drawn and suddenly the Shadow Warriors shrank back exept for one who charged at Selena full force,and sunlight glinted of the sword as it sank into the black heart of the Shadow Warrior. She ran over to her cousins "Are you all right asked Selena both girls were sobbing uncontrollably and after what they had been through Selena didn't blame them she brought them back to the other girls quickly explaining what they had been through and about the sword. Selena showed them the engraving on the side and saw a verse her parents had taught her:" .....Take up the Sword of the LORD, which is the word of God. ".
"We should go back." said Gwendolyn "The Shadow Warriors always travel in groups. We wouldn't want to get caught with these kids after dark the Shadow Warriors will want to take back what they have lost." "Gwen's right, we can come back later but we need to get these girls home, they've had a big shock and we wouldn't want to upset them any further" said Isolina glancing back at Lydia who was trying to comfort the weeping girls. Selena agreed and they all headed back toward Tornal to return the girls home, Lydia was holding little Sonya who was still weeping and Selena holding Takara's hand and eying the shadows and undergrowth warily.

As they neared Macawi's hut Lydia wondered what Macawi would say. Would she be angry?
As they grew closer Lydia found she too was searching into the undergrowth for hidden enemies, she half expected a Shadow Warrior to jump from the shadows and attack she often found herself praying silent prayers, she looked at the little girls "They're as scared as I am" she thought to herself. After what seemed like decades they arrived at the hut. As they entered the hut Macawi said "Oh, good you're back I made an apple p---" she stopped at the sight of the bedraggled girls and The Sword around Selena's waist "Okay, sit down this might take awhile. But something tells me that something happened and that it wasn't that you girls danced around in a rain storm." "Mommy, there were big black monsters!"said Takara. "You girls go to bed you too, Christopher." Takara and Sonya walked hand in hand to their bedroom with Christopher tagging behind. "Now" said Macawi "Can you explain what happened?".

Selena carefully explained each and every detail about the walk, how Takara and Sonya ran off, how she was tricked by Shadow Warriors and how she had gotten the sword, "I prayed for bravery and I saw The Sword!" Selena told her aunt. she showed her aunt the engraving on the side of The Sword, and her aunt pulled out a Bible "That verse is from Ephesians if I remember correctly." Ephesians 6:17 I think" said Selena "Yes,"said her aunt"Yes I think it is.". "What do you think the Shadow Warriors wanted with Takara and Sonya?" asked Isolina, "Who knows? The Shadow Warriors do terrible things it could be a number of things." replied Macawi.
"We've got to go back and find out, Shadow Warriors haven't been seen for decades. The Evil One must be at work." said Gwendolyn.

"Come on" said Selena "We need to get to Sigourney before morning, our parents are probably wondering where we are." "Do you think they'll believe that we ran into Shadow Warriors?' asked Lydia, " I don't know." replied Selena. " About a half mile more!" cried Gwendolyn from the front. Suddenly out of the undergrowth leaped a terrible Shadow Warrior, he had the head of a monster with huge fangs and sharp teeth and his face seemed like a huge pit wanting to swallow her alive he drew his dark sword and Gwendolyn thought it was all over she stepped backward and tripped over the root of an oak tree and was lying,helpless on the grass.
